Enlisted in Company K, Michigan 2nd Infantry Regiment on 25 May 1861.Mustered out on 4 December 1862 at Near Falmouth, VA.

Hello Sandra  thank for all that info, I have his mother as Ann Lucas? but will take another look.
I was really going on the 1881 michigan census George born in England widower.
I  suppose there could be two George Aris ,although all family tree's seem to have what I have.
However Tabitha and Mary are still missing?.
I posted on the Warwickshire page also so will read that post.
 I am still confused by it all what a brick wall.
Any more idea's will be gratefully received.

Hello Sandra thank for your help.
It seems that George emigrated quite early i did see that but wondered if it was him.
It seems that his parents emigrated to Michigan in 1866 John Aris and Ann(Lucas)Aris,
Ann died there in 1872 his brother Alban is also in Lapeer all are farmers.
I did find a marriage for George later in 1906 to Minnie lucas but it is Ontario Canada bit more
complicated.
I will have a look at find a grave.

So we have wife Tabatha (1858 Gloucestershire UK) missing and also his children Mary Harriet Lizzie (1880 Warwickshire UK) and David (1887 St Clair MI)? And now also a Henry who was born 24-04-1891 Royal Oak, Oakland MI (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NQDX-14V ). He was born a year before mum Harriet died. Ignore this for now ...

None of these 2 (or 3?) children seem to be with George in the 1894 MI state census voor Lapeer, North Branch (Lapeer Cty MI): http://seekingmichigan.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/collection/p16317coll3/id/42084 .

Note: In 1894 there is another George living in Pulaski cty (he dies in 1913), but he is a few years older and married to an Ann   

PS I could not find George in the 1884 census, so I'll have to assume that he arrived back in the US after that census was taken.

Well this is weird .. this seems to be the same Henry b Royal Oak, but he gets married in 1896 and was born abt 1870: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NQ3J-MF2 ...Huh?

Apparently there was another George Aris b abt 1842 X Harriet Lawless with son Henry .. What a coincidence!!

Hello TreeSpirit thank you so much for your interest.
I think that is George in 1894 (boarder).
I also think that he arrived back with Tabitha but (Mary)?. after 1894 as David born 1897.
I cannot find him on any passenger list,some sites do not have all Michigan.
The family trees that i have checked out have a marriage for him in 1906 Minnie Lucas but
Ontario Canada,maybe a cousin his mother was Ann Lucas.
What gave me the runaround was him saying he was widower?1880-1 Michigan census.
Having checked registers no Tabitha or Mary deaths.
If you can solve this you are a genius sometimes i wish i had never started this(lol).
Find a grave has death for him 1915 it also has his brother Alban,so i guess it to be correct.
