My g g grandmother Eliza Jane CURTIN died at Mungery near Peak Hill on 17 Jan 1896 and buried Mungery 18 Jan 1896.  I cannot find a cemetery  for Mungery.  The informants are William Curtin husband Mungery and J A Bamber Coroner and registered on 22 Jan 1896 at Peak Hill.  Could she be buried on a property?

Does the death certificate name witness to the burial?.....undertaker?.......minister of religion?

It appears that Mungery was a pastoral estate at Peak Hill, so yes she may have been buried on the property.

Where was her husband buried?

Most likely buried where she died. Mr BAMBER would seem to be a solicitor at Peak Hill (from Trove). His duty as coroner would require him to sight the deceased person, requiring him to be notified, and travel to the death place the day after the death.

I wonder if his duty as witness to the burial required him to be at the grave site for the burial, or just to confirm the burial plans with the family?

Would an undertaker be needed is she was buried at her place of death?

Several of my ancestors died in the 1890s in central west and Western NSW,  and at long distances from towns with cemeteries. Sometimes the death cert  has named  a neighbour as undertaker ... ie  the person signing they confirm the identity of the body they have buried... no minister noted is also pointing to a private burial ...  hot weather, not near town, public health issues ... bury as soon as.... and inform police ...

Thank you for your reply. It makes sense of Eliza death and burial.
Eliza's husband William CURTIN death is registered in Dubbo as CURTAIN and is well recorded.
William died 4 Oct 1896 in Fitzroy Street Dubbo and buried 5 Oct 1896 in the RC Cemetery Dubbo no minister listed.  Also involved the Coroner.
