Can anyone tell me what the above are and mean as they appear on FindMyPast and don't seem to help much?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Attestation is the process of enlisting in the army. It is certification by a magistrate or attesting officer that the answers given to the questions put have been recorded accurately, that the recruit's declaration was signed by the recruit, and that the oath of allegiance was duly sworn.

Depends what you might be looking for.  In the case of my father in WW2 it told me he attested in 1941, it gave me his service number, the Royal Artillery branch he was posted to initially, two of his later postings and the date he was discharged.  While I still needed to send for his record to fill in the gaps, it helped with the overall picture.

One among many others, this recent thread shows how it can help:

The latter was extremely informative but I guess you need to know much more about military matters like the 'secret' passages that tell you why they were discharged.
