Watton varient Watten family
« on: Sunday 07 October 18 12:10 BST (UK) »
Good Morning!  Am trying to find information on my Great Grandmother Matilda Watton who was born 1856.  All I have been able to find out is her Marriage Record she married John Shields November 23 1877 in Ballyrashane the couple were living in Ballynagg at time of marriage and both were 21 years of age and occupations listed as servants  Matildas Father was listed as John Watten who possibly had the occupation of a Weaver.  I believe her Mothers name was Jane Simpson .  Their first born son (my Grandfather) was William and he was born in Kildollagh so am thinking possibly Matilda could have  came from Coleraine area .  Matilda and John immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's and Matilda died there 1915.  It would be so nice to find out about Matildas family and if she had siblings but I don't where to look.  Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated !  Thank you!

There is a death of a John Watton in Coleraine in 1899

I think his occupation is Weaver the informant is grand daughter Annie which may be this child

The mother may be the witness Anne on the marriage cert she doesn't appear to have married so is possibly Matilda's sister.

An interesting death due to the name is Matilda aged 17 at the same address as John, again the informant is Anne a sister of Matilda, could she be a niece of your Matilda?

Hello Sinan!

I can't begin to thank you enough for all the research you did on my Great Grandmother Matilda Watton it is so much appreciated.  I believe also there is a connection between between Ann/Annie Watton and Matilda and I am going to work on making a connection between the two and perhaps be able to find out more on that family.

Have a good day!  You have made mine that is for sure!!   :)
