Rafferty - Clones
« on: Monday 08 October 18 18:10 BST (UK) »
We are searching for information about Edward Rafferty b 1871 Clones married to Susan in 1906. We believe his father was James b 1833 and his mother was Bridget McCabe. We have found Edward in the 1901 Ireland census but have not found Edward in the 1911 Ireland census. Edward and Susan had a son Patrick born 1909 but we do not know if Patrick had siblings so there is a big gap on our family history.
Any help would be greatly appreciated please.
Phil

If your not sure which county to post in, it is best to post in Ireland General.

Can you give us a link to the census please.

Hi Sinann

Thank you for your reply the census link is:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Monaghan/Clones_Rural/Carn/1630809/

The repeat post is because sometimes Clones appears in Co Monaghan and sometimes Co Fermanagh.
I think there must have been boundary changes.
Thank you
Phil

You are possibly confusing the town of Clones in Co. Monaghan with the Registration District/Poor Law Union of Clones (which includes parts of both Co. Fermanagh and Co Monaghan). Put Clones into the registration district and you'll see what I mean- https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php

Is this the child Patrick? born 1906 (not 1909) Clontivern, Co. Fermanagh- parents Edward Rafferty & Susan McAviney-

Hi both

Many many thanks to you both - these records are amazing  - been searching for them for ages.
Would love to know what became of Edward's family. I do know that Patrick went to Scotland but don't know anything about the others.

Thank you again
Phil
