the canterbury times paper
« on: Wednesday 10 October 18 10:29 BST (UK) »
Hi
a few weeks ago I was in a bookstore in Christchurch and came across a photo of blacksmiths at the Addington Workshops which may or may not shown a photo of my great great grandfather William Welsh.  I took the details of the paper planning to find it on Paperspast however have not been able to locate the paper.  Hoping someone may be able to head me in the correct direction for this photo, and any other info regarding him.  He moved to ChCh about 1898 and died in 1916.
The details of the newspaper are:
Canterbury Times 6 August 1902.

Many thanks for reading this post.

Hi

Maybe try an enquiry to Christchurch Libraries.

Good luck.   :)

Hello.

Have you tried a google search for Addington Workshop pictures ?

I have come across clips from a Railways periodical previously, but just now could not find it on PapersPast, so wondering who is / was providing online access. No time now to look further.

There may be some clues on the Cyclopedia of NZ, but I believe all regional editions were published by 1906.

Alan.

PS Try searching the NZR Staff Bulletin index for names of interest, post WWII.

Hi
my apologies for not replying sooner and thanking you for your ideas, current life has got in the way of life in the past!!  Thanks for the thoughts, I hope to get back on to this topic in the very near future and will definitely follow up on these ideas.
If all else fails I shall purchase the book as it had an incredible history of ChCh.
Again apologies and thanks
