The RNR man was born 30 June 1888 in Aberdeen, the address Bennett Place comes up in his records.  He hade been in the RNR since Sep 1914 until his short lived commissioned service in 1915.

Should be simple to compare those facts with your army man and confirm or eliminate him?

He gained  a Mates certificate and served in the Merchant Navy during WW2.
