Dates on the Will of Gregory Barns
« on: Friday 12 October 18 20:44 BST (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone here confirm the date on this Will [image 1] and the date of Probate [image 2]

The Will appears to be dated [and probate granted] in January 1610 but I'm not sure about the days.

Many Thanks

Matt

Probate - 'vicesimo sexto Januarij 1610' , 26th Jan. (Use Google translate) - https://translate.google.com/#la/en/vicesimo%20sexto

Will is in December 1610 - the number of the date difficult to make out - 20th?

Added: As you no doubt know Matt, January 1610 came after December 1610 in those days, when the new year started in April.
Lane, Burgess: Cheshire. Finney, Rogers, Gilman:Derbys
Cochran, Nicol, Paton, Bruce:Scotland. Bertolle:London
Bainbridge, Christman, Jeffs: Staffs

I thought the will might be dated 22 Dec 1610.

Incidentally, the January immediately following Dec 1610 is 1610/11, not 1609/10. 1609/10 would mean the period 1 Jan to 24 Mar in 1609 (Old Style), 1610 (New Style) - 11 months before the will was written.

Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson
