Cine Film Restoration - "They Shall Not Grow Old"
« on: Saturday 13 October 18 17:11 BST (UK) »
I'm looking forward to the showing of Peter Jackson's new release.

His team have taken cine film taken in the Great War, restored and colourised it. They've even had lip-readers working out what was being said, and synched that into the result.

The sounds of weapons being used was done by having the New Zealand Army fire real weapons.

It should be worth seeing what big budget restoration can produce.

There are snippets to be seen towards the end of this week's edition of BBC's Click programme, available on iPlayer until October 2019.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Thankyou for letting us know.
Something similar was done a while back ,well the jerky movements were
changed to normal walking speed.
But no sound of course.

Viktoria.

You may need to be quick if you'd like to see it at the cinema

It's being shown at 6pm this Tuesday nationwide, and two cinemas in Oxford showing it were both fully booked - I've finally found myself a seat at the third and furthest away of our local cinemas.

I'll look forward to seeing it too, hopefully it will be shown on telly here, but I'm a bit doubtful about that!  I'm picking it maybe shown here in NZ at the Peter Jackson Theatre in Wellington.  A few years ago he gave the PJ treatment to THE DAM BUSTERS - that was fantastic!
