East Stoke Nottinghamshire PR look up please
« on: Sunday 14 October 18 16:55 BST (UK) »
Mary Stimson married George Dewey on 23 May 1763 East Stoke Nottinghamshire he was 23, she was 26.

So that means she was born c1737 likely in East Stoke. Could someone who has access the East Stoke PRs check and see if that is the case and see if she was in fact baptised there / what date( I think her parents were Wm/Mary)

They had their children baptised in Bottesford Leicestershire and I have a burial date for George but not for Mary in Bottesford but I don't know where George came from

Thanks Larkspur that is all very useful....

I did find another Mary born/baptised 1721 East Stoke with parents Wm/Mary but assuming these were not the same family and Sarah discribed as " Eldest dau of William (labourer) and Mary" suggests Mary 1721 is not.

It does suggest other maybe early Stimsons were in East Stoke so 'maybe Mary 1721 was a younger sibling of William.

It is very difficult to prove with records at that time or connect records ( apart from 'name hunt' or maybe naming patterns) and especially as these people tended to move around Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

George Dewey was married in East Stoke, nice his age is on record, so c1740 born and died/buried in Bottesford in 1785 he was a labourer. He and wife moved after marriage to Bottestford and all their children were baptised there
I think I need to research all his children and see if any throw up any clues, one of them ( mine) ended up in Stretton Rutland, it seems he moved there after marriage and his children were all baptised there.

Georges male children were William ( Mary Stimsons dad) then John and Joesph, so 'maybe' Georges dad was also William, with John and Joseph their grandfathers... lots of 'maybes'

So it could be likely she was also their child, although it seems a long space between children Mary born in 1721 and then Sarah 1733, unless William was 'away'  in the military or prison or there was several early miscarriages between those children ( which wouldn't be recorded)

I haven't found a marriage between William and Mary that I can be sure of and of course there is no census so not even clues about where each of them were from originally.
