Indian army supplementary lists 1942-1945
« on: Monday 15 October 18 11:56 BST (UK) »
I'm picking up from where I left off a few years ago with proving my great grandfathers medal entitlement and I'm looking for some help.

I've exhausted what I think are all possible lines of enquiry, except the Indian army supplementary lists.

He first appears on the Army lists in October 1941 after being promoted to Warrant officer in May 1941 so he doesn't appear in the January supplement.

Does anybody have a copy of any of the supplements from 1942-1945 or possibly know if there are copies at the Imperial War museum in London?

Thanks in advance

Richard

No problem Richard, I can't help but there's plenty on here who can. Reason I looked was because I had a relative 1918 to 2009 WOII RE in India during WWII.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Hello,

Yes, I have tried the online lists on that link. The lists are helpful but the supplemental lists produced yearly are what i'm looking for.

I'm hoping that the supplemental might help me confirm medal entitlement which every other source has been unable to.

I am on slightly shaky ground here only because I haven't seen the supplementary lists but, as you have seen for the main lists, this and other such lists show only gallantry and distinguished service awards.  They appear as post-nominals, and would also be published in the London Gazette.  Entitlement to campaign medals do not figure in such lists and can only be found in his service record.  His commissioning is in the London Gazette but I find no further mention.

Maxd,

I thought the same but looking at the supplementary for 1941, it shows a brief record of actions / medals.

These lists only apply to officers (inc warrant officers), which is why I need the supplementart for 1942 onwards. Frank was promoted to warrant officer is May 1941.
