Thank's again RTL,using your link's I checked Gateshead cemeteries from 1901 till 1911 after that there were
no death's registered in Newcastle or Gateshead that were even near to his correct age so a Newcastle burial
is more likely. My youngest is at Uni now in Newcastle so I'll be in town regularly no doubt!

Hi Steve,

Just in case you haven't been able to get to the library yet I have looked burial record up.

Elswick Cemetery
Entry 42542
John Smith
Age 86
Where death occurred: St Joseph's Home
Buried June 11 1910
Section Y Grave No. 132
7/-

Click on link below on the Newcastle upon Tyne Cemetery Plans then on Elswick.  Map shows where section Y is.

Unless I have missed it, I could not find a death notice - perhaps Nuns did not place one?  Perhaps his actual date of death might be in a local RC Church register?

My g.g. grandmother died in St Joseph's. The home still have records and may be able to tell you the exact date. They were able to tell me exactly when mine died.
