Fairlight Church cemetery, Hastings
« on: Wednesday 17 October 18 10:30 BST (UK) »

This is a big ask, for anyone who lives near the Fairlight Church Cemetery, to do look up for me.

Annie Mary KIDMAN was buried there Fairlight on 14th October 1944 and her husband Coleman Hugh Kidman who was buried 24 March 1951.

I contacted the Church and they say the records suggests that there is no stone – but that is not definite as the records are incomplete.

Any information will be very much appreciated.

Do you have the grave plot reference number? - this would make it easier for someone to help you

Michael.

Good morning Michael,

Sadly I don't have a plot number and it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. As I mentioned, the church records are incomplete.

Thank you for your reply.

Have contacted the church again about plot numbers and have just replied - sadly the burials before 1962 seldom gave any indication as to location.

I've had a look on Google Earth at St Andrews Fairlight and the graves are spread over several areas.

There appear to be a lot of spaces without stones; only those close to the church look substantial & are probably the earliest.

Have you tried looking for a local Family History Group in case they have documented the headstones?

I live in Scotland and not easy to look up. I just have to accept things, but do know they are buried there and are together.

Thank you.

This is the website of the local FHS -

https://www.sfhg.org.uk/

Their records for Fairlight appear not to cover the years in which you are interested, but they may well have someone who can help you.

Best wishes, Michael.
