Plse see attached photo which I believe was taken in Australia during the mid 1800s. Possibly of my great grandmother Isabella PATTIE (1857-1906) of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Can some please restore to an improved quality & provide some idea of more precisely when it was taken? Thanks, Cheers, Rob

Hi...The photo is very small and would be better scanned to .jpeg format at a resolution of 300dpi.

Thanks for feedback. I received this photo image from a cousin via email. Is there a simple way I can convert the image to JPEG format? Rob

The actual image seems so small, but here's what I can do so far with what is provided.

I just like to do photo restores.

Thanks MrDude45 actually the original is a small locket sized photo and is printed on thin metal. Can someone please indicate a likely time period for the photo? I will attempt to rescan in correct format. Thanks Rob

Rob, just a tip for when you re-scan. Get your scanner to just scan the photo. There should be a control on your scanner for closing in on the photo. That way you'll be able to scan at a much higher resolution - maybe as much as 1000 dpi with such a small photo - and still fit within Rootschat's file size limit.

Sorry, I can't help with a date, but if you can post a better image that will help the dating people with their job too.

Cheers,
Peter

If it was emailed to you as a PDF then you won't successfully increase the resolution by converting the file format to jpeg as it is only the size of a postage stamp. Could you ask the sender to scan it in colour mode at a resolution of 1200dpi (Dots per Inch)... that will give us more to work with and a clearer image for dating.
