The 1824 William Hawky baptism (Forster + Dorothy) at Bishopwearmouth, I believe it's indexed on Durham Records Online (district Sunderland), and abode is given as Pans.
Then there is a burial indexed in 1825 of William Hawkey, age 1, abode Panns.
That is also on FamilySearch. At Bishopwearmouth, 25 Dec 1825.

I've just ordered his marriage certificate so at the moment I don't have his parents details until it arrives
Married at Brancepeth in 1844? GRO index has William as Whakey.

That's correct regarding marriage certificate - I'll have to wait for it to arrive to confirm father's name.

There are BTs for Brancepeth are online, but they don't seem to have continued sending in transcripts of marriages after 1842. Annoying!
There's a Mary Whitehead in Brancepeth in 1841. Looks like she is 20, female servant. Not a great census image, taken from microfilm, not the worst but faint enough on findmypast. Ancestry have actually filmed the enumerator's book and it is a lot better, but they seem to have missed out pages 3 and 4, including Mary!

Thanks keyboard all the information you have given is correct - I'm trying to find him in 1841

1851 as Harkey
1861 as Ackey
1871 as Hawkway (William died 1878)
1881 as Hanky
1891 as Hacking (wife Mary died 1897)

quite a selection

:) I"m now pretty certain he was not the son of Forster?
I think the marriage cert is the correct way to go.

I have William and Mary's children as:

Margaret
Mary
William
Isabella
Robert
John
Hannah
Benjamin

so.....I'm predicting the parents of William and Mary to be called Robert, John, Margaret, Hannah  ;D
