Hi,

I can't find the meaning of  Cydweli ( The welsh name for Kidwelly) in my book of Welsh Place-Names that I have , but I  did find this below with a quick search on the net:

"1) Dr. Paul Cavill (EPNS); Terry James (Carmarthenshire Place-name Survey); Richard Morgan (Glamorgan Record Office); Prof. Hywel Wyn Owen ( Place-name Research Centre, University of Wales, Bangor); Prof. Emeritus. G. O. Pierce and Dafydd Fon Williams, Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Gwynedd.
(2) Cydweli ( or more correctly Cedweli, is the Welsh pers. name CADWAL + territorial suffix –I meaning CADWAL'S TERRITORY) [Ar Draws Gwlad 2, (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 1999) p.28] was primarily the name of a commote in the land of Ystad Tywi. It later became the name of a Norman lordship and remains today as a town name. Kidwelly is a poor anglicised spelling of Cydweli. "

Also this:
"Cydweli was probably so called from cyd, a junction, and wyl, a flow, or gushing out, being situated near the junction of the rivers Gwendraeth fawr and fychan....."

Is that the type of information you want, What the name means?
I don't think you're going to get a 100% definite translation/meaning of Cydweli
Hope that is of some help :)

It’s fantastic. That is exactly the type of information I wanted. It’s a great help for me. Thanks.
Sorry for my unclear question. I’m not an English native speaker.

As much again: Thank you very much!
