][/color]???    I show a Robert Lyle born in Govan Parish abt 1732.   His parents were Robert Lyle and Margaret Masson (father John).  The son, Robert, married Janet Taylor.  They had three sons William, James, and Robert.  All of them were baptised in Govan Parish, Lanarkshire, SCT.  Supposedly they met with a relative, John Lyle, a merchant.   The family and various members settled in PA for a time.  Enough that there are mentions of them in various records.  After a generation or two some of them moved west changing the spelling of the name to LISLE.   My lineage, from James, ultimately settled in Nebraska.  Would like to learn more about the original Lyle family.  Also would enjoy contact with other living family members.  RedFox

Have found additional information on LYLE in Lanarkshire.  I ordered some data from ScotlandsPeople a few weeks ago.  Just received extracts this week.  They are copies of the original handwritten documents.

Robert Leill married Margaret Masson in Barony Parish, Lanarkshire,  on Jan 31, 1717.

Robert Lyle..... and Jean Taylor.. daughter.. of John Taylor......married 26th Sept. 1756 in Kilmacolm Parish (spelling of parish?) = THIS IS IN RENFREWSHIRE.

William..son to Robert Lyle & Janet Taylor; Nov 26 1763; Govan Parish

Robert..son to Robert Lyles & Jeane Taylor; Oct. 21, 1770; Govan Parish

Found James..son of Robert Lyle & Janet Taylor; bapt. 24 Apr 1768; Govan Parish (IGI)

This is what I've been looking for, but would love to "flesh it out".  I noticed the clerks didn't seem to have much care about correct spelling of names.

So, I'm still interested in information on these families.  Thanking  you advance.  RedFox  :)
