Hi Andrew,
Could you possibly try and find a marriage between James Burney & Ann Henney or Hanney. About 1844 in Whitehaven their son Thomas was born in 1845/6. On the 1851 Census they where living in celler Queen st. Thanks alot Patmel.

Lamplugh or lamplough

Wow, there is so much information about the names and the place it is amazing I live just down the road and I can't believe the history, I've drove past the old manor house wall seen the crest carved into it and past the church loads of times but never realized its importance to the area

I am getting that much information I don't know where to start, if you could give me a pointer, and I will go have a look in the churchyard as well as get you a picture of the coat of arms carved into the manor house wall

I'll just add to that by saying I think that the coat of arms at the manor house is similar to that mentioned above

I have found a few Pattinsons in this area and need to check them out

If I remember correctly you were looking some time ago for some farmers called Pattinson, am I right?

You are correct, Andrew

My Pattinson's were mainly farmers in the Lake District. Whitehaven is mentioned in old (1930ish) letters and printed on old (1890ish) pictures.

I fear that I do not know your countryside, thus when I say places like Drigg, St. Bees and Cleator, I really don't know if I'm close enough to Whitehaven to bother you with graveyard requests. :-[

Thank you so much for your time, Andrew

Cleator is less than three miles away Drigg a bit farther but no problem, if Drigg is well kept no problem, I'm a bit dubious about walking through long grass in a graveyard at Drigg (adders).  Drigg is next to where I normally work so not far

St Bees would be Whitehaven Records Office as most of the gravestones have been removed, but the records of inscriptions are there

I can't see Drigg or Cleator records being a problem either

In fact that picture you had ages ago, that church may have graves in it, if you have some scanned pictures that could help again, but lets see first

(I need to go to bed now as it's 3:30)

Goodnight
