LINK: National Roll of the GREAT WAR Manchester and Salford

This great site for searching your war first world war ancestors in Manchester And Salford is reached on the Lancashire Spinning the Web, which is about the cotton Industry.

http://spinningtheweb.org.uk

Enter global search from the entry page and this will bring up a thumb print of any of your names associated with the first World War, as well as the cotton industry. Load and enlarge to get a better view. It lists medals, addresses, service and occasionally where the soldier died.
The pages are copied from the National Publishing Book of the Great War in 1920, and I do not think it captured all soldiers, so you may have to still look at other sources.
