Pre - 1837
« on: Tuesday 06 September 05 22:04 BST (UK) »
Dear All
I've been a member of Rootschat for quite a few months now and with the help of many rootschatters managed to find the names of 14 out of my 16 great great grandparents (and quite a few great, great, great grandparents.
Now how do I get further?
I have Job Elias born in 1816 in Llanishen, Cardiff. I got the year of birth from censuses only. How can I find out more about him - say who his parents were?
Hoping for more help

The wonderful Genuki site has a wealth of information about where the old Llanishen records are kept:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Llanishen/
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

You may not quite be out of the pre 1837 stage yet.

In 1861 Job was living with his wife Eliza and eldest daughter Margaret in Merthyr.

Unless you have earlier census details which suggest that Margaret wasn't the eldest daughter, it may be worth looking for a marriage of Job and Eliza circa 1838-1842 in the Civil marriage indexes.

Diolch unwaith eto Dolgellau.

Mae gen i'r cyfrifiad am 1861 ac am 1851 sy'n dangos merch arall, Mary sy'n 12 yn 1851 felly mae angen i mi chwilio am briodas efallai yng Nghaerdydd neu Casnewydd tua 1839. Yn St Mellons roedd Leah Hugins (mae'r enw yma ar dystysgrif geni ei merch) yn byw.
Fe fyddwch chi'n deall mor awyddus ydw i i ddarganfod teulu Job gan i'm hen famgu, eu merch Catherine, ddweud ei bod yn wyres i John Elias o Fôn. Mae'n rhaid i mi ffeindio ai ydy hwn yn wir neu pheidio. Dyw'r dyddiadau ddim yn gweithio mas.
Diolch eto
