1.  URBAN FREDERICK HEWITT  (JOHN, JOHN) was born 09 June 1835 in Sheffield,Yorks., and died 25 January 1891 in York ,N.Yorks..  He married ELIZABETH VICTORIA WHITELEY 25 June 1862 in St Marys Church,Sheffield,Yorks., daughter of JOSEPH WHITELEY and JANE GAMBLE.  She was born 27 October 1839 in Sheffield,Yorks., and died 30 March 1926 in York ,N.Yorks..

Urban Frederick HEWITT was a schoolmaster at Archbishop Holgate School in York between 1861 & 1891.

I have information on Strafford Smith Hewitt and would be interested in more details concerning his siblings Joseph Hannah and Thomas - their marriages and offspring, particularly their subsequent locations - I believe one or both brothers may have spent time in Canada and that Hannah may not have married. My mother is one of Strafford Hewitt’s children by his second marriage.

Origin English, born York, widowed, died March 19th 1836, age about 60yrs, retired machinist, father Urban Frederick Hewitt, mother Elizabeth Victoria Whitely. Buried Mountain View Cemetery.
Cause of death, suicide by hanging with rope, from roof support, due to nervous breakdown due to injured left hip  3yrs ago from fall from telephone pole.
