Success - Kilgariff and Rock families!!!
« on: Wednesday 14 September 05 04:30 BST (UK) »
Just need to crow!
I was terrified of doing my Irish research - but after taking that leap I have had some success!  It's taken me several months but I have slowly knit back my Rock family to Ballaghderreen (which was then in Mayo, now in Roscommon) and through them found my Kilgariff family!  During this research I have also discovered several live relatives who have helped me.  Today I received confirmation through two death certificates that my great great grandmother was Margaret Kilgarriff.  She married Michael Rock and they came to England some time in 1871/72.
I'm not done yet, a visit to Ireland next - I have relatives there!
Thanks to everyone on RootsChat who helped me too!

Dear Yukon
Just noticed your posting re Kilgarriff family. My gg grandafther Michael Flaherty married a Margaret Killgariff in Clonbern in 1872. She was born in Blindpark and was of full age when they married. Father, John Kilgarriff. Could there be a connection?

Best wishes
