Arno,

I can look at the 1881 census, but it would help to know her parents' names and/or her siblings.  At the moment she is proving elusive.  :(

Hi Nell

Many thanks for your offer.

I deliberately let off this additional info because I'm not sure how correct it is??
I didn't want to lead you astray!!

What I have passed on to me via peoples memory is as follows -

Siblings of Annie  -  Kate ( Christie? ), Alex, Liz & Adam

Parents of ANNIE -  John ? McKINNON and Ann ? McKENZIE

Hope this makes it easier ?

Regards Arno

this might be a long shot, but "Croy" is sometimes listed as Inverness and sometimes is listed as Nairn.....
kate would probably be catherine and there is also an alexander (maybe the other siblings that you mentioned were born after this census????

although i would definitely say that the best way to confirm her parents names would be to view her death cert. - scotlandspeople have 1 match (death records) for annie mackinnon other surnames heggie in 1948 aged 76 years. (that puts her born c1872) this was in Fife, but i haven't narrowed it down any further. also i havent actually viewed this cert so cant be certain it is the one you are looking for, but it does "sound" right.

hope this helps a little.

kind regards,
Lorna.

Hi Lorna

Just to let you know I have checked the death cert on scotlandspeople  for Annie HEGGIE -  d 11Oct 1948.

Definitely the right one - gives husband Robert HEGGIE, father John MCKINNON (Ploughman), mother Catherine MCKENZIE. Informant Annie GRAY (Daughter and ??).

Also got copy of the marriage of John MCKINNON and Catherine MCKENZIE on  12th Jun 1868. Parents Angus MCKINNON and Ann MACDONNALL ?? + Donald MACKENZIE and Eliza ??  MACDONALD.

Also marriage of Robert HEGGIE and Annie MCKINNON on 25th Dec 1891.
Parnets John HEGGIE and Christina SMITH + John MCKINNON and Catherine MACKENZIE. So still single on 1891 census!!

And marriage of John HEGGIE and Christina SMITH on 26th ?? 1869.
Parents Robert HEGGIE and Catherine DICKSON + Joseph SMITH and Jane ??
PAUL ??.

Its a very good site for births, deaths and marriages but gets very hard to locate people on the Census - would be easier if a BIRTHPLACE was given in the search results!!   or am I missing something??

Many thanks again Arno

Hi Arno

All this information is correct.  I am a descendant of James Heggie as he was my grandfather, and Annie Mckinnon was my great grandmother. My grandfather James Heggie had migrated to Canada in the year of 1910. I am really hoping to find some living relatives to try to help me with my family tree. I under stand that there was a family member that migrated to Australia, but I am not able to find that extended family, and I was hoping if you know anything of them. Not sure if you will receive this or not, but I thought I would try.

P.S. The extended family in Australia now has the last name Dean,
and they also have photo's of the Heggie family I think.
I hope to here back from you. thanks.

                                                                                                                                                 Cynthia Petit

Hi Arno

I am really happy that you got back to me, thank you very much. As I have been trying to find the family that had migrated to Australia from Scotland for 3 to 4 years now. I have some more information for you regarding the Heggie side of the family.
As you know James Heggie was my grandfather. Who died 23 April 1981 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. I also found out from another sibling descendant of James Heggie that James my grandfather was adopted by Robert Heggie, but Annie Mckinnon was his biological mother.
I understand some one from your family was writting letters to Loen Heggie ( Colwell ) ( my aunt ). It was her husband told me about the Deans family. Loen Passed away about 2 years ago. My mother is Margaret Heggie  ( Hagan ).
I have a Heggie GED file, but I find GED files hard to understand.
I am confused on one thing though, How does Robertina Heggie fit in?  Because in the list. I don't see a Robertina in the census. Just Robert, please help?

I was also wondering if you knew about any twins from the Heggie family?
I was also wondering if you would have any pictures of the Heggie side of the family?
If you want I have pictures of Loen, Margaret, and Nelda, also James Heggies Wife Florence May Elms ( Heggie ) that I can send you copies of.
I was wondering if there was another way to contact you other than on here?
I have a family tree on my Heritage .com under Loewen ( Petit )
Or you can email me at (*)
I would be very happy to hear back. Thanks

Best Regards Cynthia Petit in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada
