Hi Cat One,
Thank you for all the info. I shall have to go through it carefully but it seems as though Agnes Swain nee Carter was not related to Arthur Carter even though they both lived in Kemble St. Liverpool in 1881c. I had hoped they were brother and sister as I can't find any other info on Agnes, other than her being born in Liverpool 1843, eg. parents ::)

One sure way to find her parents - order the birth cert ...... on the 1881 certificate is a boarder, Matthew Carter, staying with Walter and Agnes. On the 1861 census hes with parents Thomas and Marion Carter, so if he's actually Agnes brother, that could answer your question, but no way of knowing for sure  :-\

Just noticed on the 1881 census Agnes and Walter named a child Marion. Named after grandma?
