I found more Mortons this evening. Jean Morton (that is Jean's picture at www.poetrypoem.com/justforjean)  told me her family were related to the Magills and originally lived in the Cairncastle, Carnalbanagh, and Killyglen
areas of Co. Antrim.

O.K.  I know that Steve is doing his best in trying to become related to me so this might be of
some help:

1.  James Morton of Craigs, linen weaver, m. to Jane.

2.  Mary Morton, dau, m. 1853 to James Boyd, son of Thomas Boyd, weaver

2.  James Morton, Jr., linen weaver, m. 1855 to Elizabeth McCauley, dau of Richard McCauley

3.  William Morton, born 1856

3.  James Morton III, born 1859

3.  John Morton, born 1865

3.  Mary Ann Morton, b. 1872

Although the dates are questionable I believe that this Richard McCauley was also the father of my great grandmother,  Sarah Jane McCauley, who married William Robinson on June 30, 1875 at Ballymena 3rd Presbyterian Church.  Richard was a farmer living at Ballyminstra.  Witness for William Robinson was John Gardner and for Sarah, Jenny McCauley.

Jenny McCauley married in 1881 at Wellington St. Presbyterian Church to William Dodds who paid the passage of George Macaulay Robinson, my grandfather, to the U.S.

Also, I have these marriages.  Just don't know where I got the information from and if, when, everything will someday connect.

Jane Morton m. 1851 John McAhan.

Mary Morton m. 1846 James Holmes.

Nancy Morton m. 1872 Archibald Kennedy, son of Francis Kennedy.

Jane Morton m. 1848 John McLean.

William McAuley m. 1865 Margaret Stevenson.

I would like to talk to the remaining person I assume is Steve concerning this post-I have Elizabeth Morton possible dau of the John(James) and Jane Peden Morton and I am trying very hard to contact someone about the dau Elizabeth-some do not believe existed but listed on the immigration record for the couple in 1767-68 as Elizabeth, 2, on the (Snow) James and Mary.

I assume there were no records available for the marriage of John or James Morton to Jane Peden in county Antrim?  Where there any records for their children prior to emigration to America in 1767-68 on the James and Mary that arrived in Charleston, S.C. with their 3 children David 7, John 4, and Elizabeth 2? I am researching this family and have posts for Antrim, Ireland, General at rootsweb. I found a record for James and Jane Peden Mortons son John Morton and it says he was born in 1762 Broughshane, Ballymena Parish, County Antrim, Ireland. That is what my post at rootsweb says. I have been told these records were probably lost or burnt. They were Presberterian-Rev Williams group. They left I believe from the port of Lyner or something like that-I cannot read my own writing! Any further info on previous search and Christopher (deceased)posting about this? The record for John Morton m Mary Peadin is from Scotland so maybe there is a record for this Morton in Scotland for his birth?
