Jordan or Teague - Mayor of Truro?
« on: Sunday 15 August 04 04:21 BST (UK) »
Hi,
there is a story passed down through my family that one of my ancestor's was Mayor of Truro.

The only Cornish connection I have found so far is my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Jane Jordan who was born in Truro abt 1868. Her parents were Robert John Jordan born abt 1848 in Truro & Mary Ann Teague born Truro abt 1849, Robert & Mary married in 1866.
Elizabeth's brother Edwin Arthur was also born in Truro abt 1871.

Her sister Emily was born in Woolwich Kent, the rest of her siblings in London.
I have the census details for the family in 1881, 1891 & 1901.

So far I have not found out any more on either Robert or Mary Ann's families,
their marriage certificate is on my need to purchase list, & have been unable to find any information on Mayors of Truro.
So anything on this line would be really welcome.
I did contact the Cornish Studies Library but they were unable to find any information.

Thanks Nell,
just the one Teague, & definitely not an ancestor, tho possibly a relation.
Gives me something to go on anyway.

Thanks again

Do we really need to know who the first female mayor was ?  Sorry, I just don't see the relevance.  ::)
