1890 or 1900 Look Up: Wisconsin CORK
« on: Monday 26 September 05 23:33 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm following a lead from GenesReunited.

There are 2 brothers of my 2xg grandmother who seem to have emmigrated to Wisconsin and I'd love to follow this up.

The 2 brothers are..

Eli Cork bn 1855 Clayhidon, Devon/Somerset border

&

Robert Cork bn 1861 also Clayhidon

They both have families by 1890 I think.

Eli has a daughter Hannah bn 1884

Robert has a son Walter bn 1889

Any help with these families much appreciated.

Pam

Pam, this posting was on the Waukesha County, Wisconsin website at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwaukes/query003.html>
Hope this helps find your family.---Genealiza

Surnames: CORK Family
Researcher: Robin Korb
Email:
Date Posted: 31 July 2000

My Family history dates back to approx 1870/71 in Waukesha. My ggg-grandfather Thomas Cork and his wife, Hannah, came to America in 1872 with their children James Cork age 31, Hannah Cork age 26, Eli Cork age 17, William Cork age 14 and Robert Cork age 12. There were two other children that came to the Waukesha area in 1870 - Thomas Cork age 27 and Mark Cork age 22.

Samuel Cork age 37, my gg-grandfather - son of Thomas & Hannah, came to America with his wife, Mary and six children in March of 1876. I know of two of Samuel's children who are buried in the Little Prairie Cemetery, Walworth, Cty, WI. They are Rosa Cork Crowley d-1888 and John Cork d-1886. I do know that the Samuel and his family lived in Genesee during his time in the Waukesha area.

I do know that the Corks eventually moved up to the Phillips, Price Cty area sometime in the 1890's. I have found no record of Samuel or his parents up in the Phillips area and wonder if they are buried somewhere in the Waukesha area.

My grandfather, Norman Lee Cork then moved back down to the Genesee, Waukesha area with his family in the 1940's and remained there until his death.

Does anyone have any information on this family line?

The time you have taken is truely appreciated.

I have the childhood of these people through the census but they seemed to disappear.  Here's my answer  ;D

I've been doing a bit more research on the Cork family line in Devonshire on Ancestry.com and I've been able to take the line back several more generations. Are you interested in what I've found? If so, let me know.
