Help & advice to locate army records

Hi there,
Can someone please help and advise me how to locate the army records of William Allsopp. the only info i have is as follows-.

William Allsopp born 1837 approx in Codsall Staffs, fathers name John Allsopp
joined the army as a regular soldier serving in the Royal Artillery.while based in Bombay Barracks India he had at least two children, Jack Allsopp born 1865 approx & Caroline adeline Allsopp born 1868. The mother died in India before 1880 when William who had finished his tour of dutyand the two children sailed back to England ,but on the ship William died aged 49 or 50 approx.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any surviving Military Record will be at the National Archive, Kew.

Library should have this book - Tracing your Ancestors in the PRO by Amanda Bevan - lot's of info on Royal Artillery.
