Need Help With WWII Service Record
« on: Monday 16 August 04 03:17 BST (UK) »
Good Morning

Hope there is a WWII military expert on the list.

My mom's brother died in WWII.  He was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Engineers.

According to his obit he served two years with the 8th Army M.E.F.;  C.M.F.;  B.N.A.F.   I think the BNAF would stand for British North Africa Forces, but wonder about the rest.

Can I find out more about his military record.   Where would I write.

Harold - from Canada

If you type in 'CWGC' into your search engine you'll be able to log on to Commonwealth War Graves Commission site which may commemorate your relative's death.

For more information about Army service you can go to http://www.army.mod.uk/soldierwelfare/index.htm

Thank you so much, I went to the site mentioned and found the record for my uncle.   Forgot to say he was Cecil Benjamin Rouse but called Bennie.

Talked to my brother who says, Ben was injured very seriously in Italy, and brought back to England.   I suspect he was brought to the Uxbridge Hillingdon Hospital and died there, thus the place of burial.

Would anybody be close enough to take a photo of the grave for me, according to the site it is Row K.D. Grave 21.
