Manwell
« on: Friday 30 September 05 12:50 BST (UK) »
I am searching for a Louisa Manwell who married John Earl on 30 June 1817 in Saint Nicholas, Guildford, Surrey, England.

I have been unable to find Louisa's birth in Surrey and as it is quite an unusual name and most of the Manwells in the IGI seem to originate from the Swanage area I wonder whether she may have come from Dorset.

Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.

Hi
Have you had a look on

http://www.dorset-opc.com/

Swanage baptisms have been transcribed and put online  plus other info and loads of other parishes. Always a good start for all Dorset queries.
Cheers Jan ;)

It might be worth searching for the surname MANUEL as well. Those vicars used to spell names just as they pleased, and no-one could complain if they couldn't write, like my ancestors from those times.
looking for LANE from Holnest 1729, Hermitage 1750, Leigh 1808, Longfleet 1881, and Kinson 1891+
