Missing Aspedistra as a .gif if you wish to use it.

It would help balance the composition, and I am sure it was there originally. One of the favourite photographer's prop of the age, along with the vase, varse or vause.

Okay, this is all I'll be able to do for today, and possibly a few days. Must get on and do some of the family pictures I've been putting off doing for weeks! Hopefully I'll be done by the weekend

Here is where I'm at so far. Most elements are now in place, and all I'm really missing are a right foot, a right hand and a left ear, and possibly a new vase. The rest I should be able to cobble together into a final amalgamation. So if anyone can find any of these bits, please post them and I'll try to incorporate them.

Aspidistras are blooming lovely, and I agree that they balance the composition perfectly.

More soon,

Glen

Hi Glen,

What a superb job you have done on this picture. I like the aspidistra, it helps balance the whole thing. From what I can see of the vase, it looks like there are some pictures on it, but I am happy with a plain one, in fact I am blooming happy with the whole thing!! ;D

Thank you for spending so much time on this, don't neglect the family stuff.

Many. many thanks,

Calmar
 :D

Also thanks to gippeswyc for more tinkering with the edges, looking good.
 :)

Thanks Bryan,

I'm not sure what to do with the vase at this stage. I can see the original may have had handles, but I can't find any pictures even remotely like the image of it in my head so a new one is called for.

Your vase would be a perfect replacement for it, and certainly fits the feel of the picture. Is that okay for you, Calmar?

The damage makes it almost impossible to get exactly how it should be, and the table is a complete compromise, because it looks to me as if the edge was decorated. It would appear to have been a larger version of the one below. So a flat wooden table is a bit of a cop-out accuracy-wise, but its the best I can do.

Now, back to the repairs of the family pictures...

This .gif is not as clean as I got the aspidestra, but here is a right clog. It is also a little large? Will probably need scaling.

P.S. Look at the tripod table, the leg coming down from under his hand should go behind the other two, as in the fancy edged table

So close!

My family photos are safely tucked up for the night so I had another tweak of this.

Watermusics boot is now proudly on the other foot, and Bryans grandfathers hand is attached. Now I know how Dr Frankenstein must have felt! The table legs have been re-arranged as well.

I tried using the vase, but I couldn't get a match for contrast that looked right, so I'm still on the lookout for a vase, preferably with handles and not too narrow top.

Shouldn't take too long now to get this to completion. A few tweaks here, a minor resize there, some cloning to hide the edges, and a final rinse to get rid of the stains and Calmars grandfather will be ready to face the world.

Now, I really must be getting some sleep...

Glen
