Hi mgt.37,

There are no children listed in the BVR's born to a Charles Weymss anywhere.

Do you know if Charles survived into adulthood?

I posted quite a lot of information recently on your Charles and his siblings, was it your thread?

If Charles did marry, you won't get a Marriage Certificate as more than likely he would have married before 1855. The best you could hope for would be a "Proclamation of Banns".

Sorry!

Anne

thanks Anne, Charles Capet Wemyss did live to adulthood, he died about 1864, maybe in Canada.  I think he had three children, one was Mary Robertson Wemyss b. abt 1857 in Edinburgh according to the 1881 census.
Couldn't find your posting.
Margaret.

Just new to tracing family roots. I have some information on this topic if still required.

Hello mgt.37,
     Is this the right family?
1861 Canadian Census. St John's District, Toronto, Canada West.
     C.C. Wemyss  32  b  Scotland. (Book Keeper)
     Mrs?    "        25  b     "
     Mary    "         6   b     "
David   "         4   b  St Thomas, Canada West.
     Agnes   "         2  b  Toronto,         "        "

1871 England Census. Hanover St, Hanley, Staffordshire.
James  Carr    44  Crate Maker  b Musselburgh, Scotland.
Agnes  Carr    33  Wife            b  Edinburgh.
     Mary Weymes  15 Step Dau.    b       "         (Middle initial K? or R?)
David     "       13 Step Son      b  Canada West.
     Agnes H  "      11 Step Dau.     b  Canada West.
Catherine Carr   5  Daughter     b  Glasgow.

There is a marriage for a James Carr & Agnes Hogg, Hutchesontown, Glasgow in 1865. (ScotlandsPeople)

If this is the right family then Charles probably married 1850-56 & emigrated 1855-57.

               Regards,     Dod.

Hello mgt.37,
Could this be Charles in Edinburgh in 1851 with his mother, brother & sister?
Barbra Wiymes    80  Annuitant           b  England.
          G.B.        "         24  Writer's Clerk       b  Edinburgh.
          Harriot     "         22         -                 b        "
          Charles    "         20  Clerk in Glass Co.  b        "
John Falkener      22  Writer's Clerk       b  Stonehaven. (Visitor)
          Alexander Wallace 23     "        "           b         "         (   "    )
Age 80 is a tad old to have children in their early 20s. Maybe a transcription error somewhere.
               Regards,     Dod.

Dod, FreeCen also show mother Barbra as aged 80. Maybe original image is hard to read?

To try to help with dates, always the possibility that daughter Mary was born to Agnes outside of marriage with Charles?  See https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQHB-XM6
