shipping line Australia to Scotland via Durban

An additional question.  Does anyone have access to shipping lines leaving Australia returning to Scotland via Durban and Cape Town.  Both my grandparents Frederick William Hudson and Janet Cairns Aitken (traveling with her stepfather last name Reynolds) left Australia (separately obviously) and somehow landed up in Durban.  Rumor has it that Janet and Family were returning to Scotland when her mother got so ill that it was suggested that the family disembark in Durban.

I have no knowledge of how my grandfather landed up in SA. 

Appreciate any help I can get especially on Frederick William Hudson born Sydney, Australia, died Rossburgh South Africa 1944.

I have a copy of a form:

Pursuant to the Provision Contained in "The Administration of Estates Act, 1913"

It lists his name as Frederick William Hudson
Birthplace: Sydney Australia, British Nationality.
Parents: deceased
Spouse Janet Cairns Hudson (born Aitken)
Day of deceased 27 December 1944
His age:  59 years and 1 month.  Fits in with a birth date of around 20th Nov 1884 which is what I have been looking at.

The family I can find in Australia, does not tie up with the names my mother (vaguely) remembers as siblings.

I was hoping I could find him on a shipping list traveling to SA.

I really have very little on his family life at all.

However, if you want to know about the Aitkens/Cairns/Dewar/Brough line I have a host of information.

just spoken to John and he checked his fammily index and all the aitken, cairns, brough  and Dewar names are listed so you are obviously part of the same line.

Wow that was quick.  I would love to chat to him so I will go to your off line message and give you my personal email address.  The Robertson Dewar / Australian connection is almost a definite.  I would love to know more about the Dewar family and if he does not know I have a bunch of stuff on the Brough family line.  My computer crashed and I lost the copy but fortunately I had a hard copy which I am scanning slowly back in.  However I do have a direct input in my family File which will show him the direct line down to Christina Brough and Robert Dewar.  It goes back to approximately 1645.
