HI,

What is it you are looking for? Any births or marraiges post 1864 should have been registered. The indexes are available at your local family history centre. Prior to that, it's the parish records you need and for that you need the parish and religion.

Hi Kate,

Thanks for the reply.  I have accessed some records through the GRO, Dublin.  Am I right in thinking that the family history centres I require are in Ireland and not Australia? (I am new at this!)  ;)

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. The notification isn't working 100% for me. The family history centres are part of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. They have a plethora or resources and you can order various microfilms for Ireland. Check out their website for your nearest office

Hello Nettie,

The following inscription is on a headstone at the Milltown Cemetery.  It's No. 14 near the end of the list.

Erected to the Memory of Daniel Spillane. Died December 25th, 1901 aged 71 years and his daughter Mary

There's also another Spillane inscription mentioned on the list which was compiled by John Knightly

Milltown is in the Kilcolman Civil Parish. There are Spillanes in this parish listed on the Kilcolman & Kilbonane Civil Parishes Tithes 1824 - 1826 web page but they are in townlands other than Milltown.

I am a grand daughter of John Finn. John is Julia's half brother from Tom Finns second marriage. Are you Julia's grand daughter, her son John is your Dad?
The grave of Tom Finn is in Dromavalla in Killorglin. We assumed both his wives were buried there. Many people were buried and they didn't have it recorded on the gravestone.  You have unearthed lots of info so far.

I did some more "snooping" on your Roots chat posts and have discovered you are in Aus  Your dad visited our house when I was a teenager with Jimmy and your grandparents. I saw the photo of Dennis and Aunt Julia, Your Grand parents, on your pages. She was a beauty in her day. My grandfather loved her. We visited north kerry every Christmas and when I could drive I drove him out there.

Hello lonndubh, how wonderful to hear from you. If you make one more post (just reply to this one), we will be able to exchange private messages.

I am Julia's granddaughter, Michael is my father. I have heard lovely things about your grandfather, John, and I can't wait to hear more.
