I have William Dick married Ellen (Helen) in Auchterderran 4 Jan 1817.  I have 9 children listed to them, but no parents for either.  William was my gg g'father through his daughter Margaret.

Long time replying,

I'm doing a bit of research for a Pal's wife and she is related.

I have about Ssx or seven generations from, primarily, William Dick and Nell (Helen/Ellen) Burton, to date.

Very willing to share - please get in touch.

Regards,

Andy

I have Isobel Dick born about 1776 who married John Adam (born Abt. 1774 in Fife).  They married on 08 May 1794 in Markinch, Fife.  I have their 14 children.  Can anyone help me with the parentage of Isobel Dick.  Can supply names of all the Adam children.

Many thanks.

The Dicks who were a prominent fishing family in Cellardyke, Fife until recently (in my lifetime, I mean) go back to a John Dick from Lochgelly in the parish of Auchterderran who married an Elizabeth Davidson from Petty in Inverness-shire. I suspect he had been in the army and stationed at Fort George.

He shows up in the Cellardyke censuses as a linen weaver then as town officer, and dies in 1869 aged 77. His death-certificate gives his parents as John Dick, weaver, and Elizabeth Brown.
