1841 Census - Bishopstoke, Please
« on: Tuesday 11 October 05 09:34 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am hoping that SKS can search the 1841 census for Bishopstoke for the BIFFIN family of Richard (born 1772 Wiltshire) &  Isabella BIFFIN (born 1780 Wiltshire).
Isabella is a widow by the 1851 census (Southampton). The family were issed with a removal order in 1833 and settled in Bishopstoke. They should be in Bishopstoke in 1841 as two children were buried there in 1840 and 1844.

Name may even be listed as BEAVEN.....

Very best regards,
Michael

Hello Nell,
Thank you for the taking the time with the look-up. Your info confirms what I presumed, that Richard may have died prior to the 1841 census and maybe prior to the start of civil registrations (can not find his death anywhere!)
Thank you again.

Hi mike,

I did a (very quick) search for Richard's burial but drew a blank up to 1837.  I did not check any variant spellings.

I am a relative of Richard Beaven (born 1772 West Lavington, Wilts.).He was a miller by trade and moved to Bishoptoke, Hampshire in the early 1800's with his wife Isabella (nee Ford) and their first child Robert. The family increased with the arrival of sons John, Thomas, William and Richard Henry Biffin and daughters Mary Ann and Isabella Biffin all born in Bishopstoke. Richard Biffin (as he was then known) and his family were issued with a removal order in 1833 from Bishopstoke to be removed to West Lavington. Richard's son John Biffin and his wife had been previously issued a removal order in 1828 to South Stoneham. (source Hampshire Records Office). Isabella and her son William and daughters Mary Ann and Isabella settled in Southampton with other members of the family whilst Richard Beaven returned to West Lavington and died in Littleton in 1848 aged 76. He died of concussion after a fall. The death certificate gives Richard's occupation as miller. Hope this helps. MB.

A Beavan,

Are you addressing your comments to mikell45, who last posted in 2012, or GODBIF, who only posted twice?

Either might still reply to you, if their email addresses are still current and they are receiving notifications, but, failing that, can we give you any other assistance?
