It probably means she was born illegitimately...

Hi Wendi

One possible reason why her Father was'nt listed on the Marraige Certificate was because she may not have known who her father was.
In my tree some of my rellies have'nt got Fathers listed on their Birth Certs, its been left blank.

This seems to be her very interesting entry in 1901:
RG13/3137 9 10
Sutton in Ashfield
20 Union Street

William Storer, head, 22, Colliery Banksman above ground
Eliza, wife, 27, Hosiery seamer at home
George, son, 2
John Wm, son, 4mths
Charles Banner, father in law, wid, 60, Hosiery hand framework knitter at home
Ada Sills, sister in law, 20, Hosiery factory runner on
Saml Sills, brother in law, (16?), Colliery Banksman above ground

Everybody born Sutton in Ashfield.

Strange enough, Charles Banner is to be found in 1881 with a daughter Ada age 6 months! (+ stepchildren, among which an Eliza age 7)

You could order her birth certificate.
FreeBMD has this:
Ada Banner, December quarter 1880, Mansfield, 7b 78

I see she's Ada Banner in 1891 too. Do you already have it?
