Thanks for both your replies.
I have looked at the will and everything seems to tie up with the details I have. The children are all there and the reference to Loggerheads. The date of the will is just before his death although I wonder why the will was not proved until 1799 (three years after death). The reference to Matlock also ties in with my own previous research but the 1731 wedding is too early. There do seem to be plenty of Woodwards in Matlock including a possible baptism in 1734 with a father also Adam. This may be the Adam who married in 1731. I will try and find some earlier children.
Do you know where the Cornwall baptism comes from? I would also like to see the licensee records and do you know the source?
The name of the village seems plausible. I should remember as I lived in Ruthin which is not far away as a child.
