Hi Isobel

I looked at Scotlands People, the pay to view official Scottish site for BMD and census data at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  I did some searches without viewing the actual certs.  There is a birth entry for a Jessie Hogg McIntyre in 1881 Argyll/Craignish which you might want to view in order to determine who her parents were.  I also looked at the 1871 census. There are only two Walter Beatties in Argyll for that census and both are in Ardnamurchan. There is also an entry for a Jannet (with the double nn spelling) also in Ardnamurchan. If this is the right family, you can hopefully find out about any of Walter and Jannet's children who were living at home with them at the time.

Unfortunetely not

I have been trying to trace Janet for years, took a connection in Canada to tell me about Janets marriage for me then to find connections  An old family tree it said she had went to Canada.  So this is all came as a surprise.
Any information you have would be great.

On 8 Nov 1883 when John was 35, he married Mary Jardine JACKSON, daughter of Walter JACKSON & Elizabeth SCOTT, in Glencarmel, Salen Parish, Isle of Mull, Argyll. Born on 11 Nov 1856 in Kilfinichen & Kilvickeon Parish, Argyll. Mary Jardine died in Craigow Mill, Milnathort, Kinross, Fife on 7 Sep 1932, she was 75. Buried in Dryfesdale Cemetery, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire.

The Death Certificate states that the date of death is 7th September 1932 but the headstone inscription states 6th September.

3. Thomas BEATTIE. Born on 22 Jun 1850 in Ettrick Parish, Selkirkshire. Thomas died in Belinoe, Kilmore, Kilmore & Kilbride Parish, Argyll on 15 Jun 1872, he was 21.

4. Christian BEATTIE. Born on 1 Aug 1852 in Ettrick Parish, Selkirkshire. Christian died in Auchyarron, Ardrishaig, South Knapdale, Argyll on 5 Feb 1921, she was 68. Buried in Kilmartin Churchyard, Kilmartin, Argyll.
