Ruby McDonald bc 1895
« on: Monday 17 October 05 01:40 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me find some more info on my childrens gggrandmother.

The information I have on her so far has come from the naturalization papers of her husband, Basil John Mamantow.

Her full name on these papers is given as Ruby Myrtle Beatrice McDonald, 26 yrs in 1921, (so bc 1895) born in Lyndbrook (thats what it looks like on the papers) South Australia.  At the time of the application they were living in Mount Morgan, Queensland.

My childrens grandmother has a beautiful, four generation photograph, showing herself, her mother, her grandmother (Ruby) and Ruby's mother.  As she was estranged from her mothers family at a very young age, she didn't even know her grandmothers name until I found her grandfathers naturalisation papers. ( all I had to go on was her mothers maiden name, Mamantow, Lucky it was very uncommon).

Hoping someone may be able to find out Ruby's mothers name and where she came from.

Ta

Just thought I should let evryone know that shanko is looking for the birth for me, so no-one else wastes their time looking.  We think the place of birth should be Lyndoch, South Australia.

I stumbled onto this site as I am researching the Hall family.  Ruby M. B. McDonald is the daughter of Mary Jane Hall born 1860 Rowland Flat in the Barossa Valley, South Australia.  Mary Jane is the Daughter of John Hall(1830-1865) and Ann Harris (1835-?).
John Hall is the older son of John Hall sn. and Elizabeth (nee Hill) who migrated from Wiltshire in England in 1840.
So far I believe Mary Jane Hall is the only child of John and Ann.
Two of R.M.B's brothers (Herbert Norman Theodore and  Reuben Donald Stanley)were KIA during W.W.1.
You may already have this info. but just in case............
Cheers Tricie Hall
