1841 & 1851 census for Conisbrough - for Spencer
« on: Tuesday 18 October 05 11:17 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for the Spencer family of Conisbrough.  In 1808 John Spencer (sorry don't know year of birth) married Alice Judson (born 1777 Yorkshire and still alive in 1861) in Hemingbrough - they then had at least Henry Judson Spencer (1815), John Spink Spencer (1813) and Sarah Ann Spencer (1817) in Conisbrough I should very much like to know if they had any more children and where and when John Spencer senior was born

Thanks in advance

Hi  Oly

Thank you very much for that - it is the second of the two families that I am interested in - though the parents John Spencer (snr) and his wife Alice (nee Judson) wern't there - I wonder where they were.  Henry (Judson) Spencer certainly gives his place of birth as Conisbrough on later census's and Alice was still alive in 1861 - another mystery - I didn't know of the existance of Johns son - so he can be added now

All the best

Sarah wife 61 born Edlington
Joseph son Un 40  Edlington

A reminder for the ones yesterday, 1841 Census ages above 15 are rounded down to the nearest five.
Bet you knew that.

I once worked with a man called Raymond Spencer from Conisboro about 1968 ish an electrician not a farmer.

Hi DebbieG,
I have just come across your interest in the SPENCER family of Conisbrough and thought I would make contact. John Spink SPENCER was my 2xGreat Grandfather.

I do have information on the SPENCER family if you would be interested? I know your post was a while ago but I am hoping that we might both have info for each other and who knows, we might even be related!

I hope you get this message and I look forward to "chatting".
Best wishes

Hello Debbie

Inland Revenue extract of the Will dated 1810, which lists relatives and the amounts TNA, Kew reference IR 26/433/37 for John Spencer of Selby, Yorkshire.

John Spencer of Selby is the Testator and John Spencer of Conisbrough Park is the Executor and some relationships are noted, with names and the amounts.

Kind regards, Mark

A family of Hoods in the Howden area 1500-1700s, then of course there's Robin in Notts.

Hello Mark
Read from the Conisbrough indexes
Baptism of the children of John (Farmer) and Alice Spencer of Conisbrough Parks
22 Nov    1809  John Spencer (b.19 Nov)
26 May    1811  Mary Spencer (b. 18 April)
28 March 1813  John Spink Spencer
1  March  1815  Henry Judson Spencer
12 April   1817  Sarah Ann

Further entries for two of the above childrens children up to 1839
The first mention of a Spencer in the register index  was Robert son of William 17April 1588
then Joseph Spencer mid 1700,s
What info did you get Mark can we have a peek
