I am trying to find out who John Laidlers parent were. I have three possibles 9/9/ 1802 Father James mother Ann Vasey christened St Nicholas Durham 13/3/03 18/11/1804 Father Laidler mother Margery Harbottle christened St Giles 18/11/1804 1/08/1803 Father Thomas mother Hannah Seamer christened 17/06/1804 Whickam
John Laidler became a plumber. does anyone out there know these families ?
What does John give as his birthplace in later census, to narrow it down a bit? In the Whickham baptism he is a twin, she is Margaret, if that helps at all!

Census and bmd information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk Norfolk - Ebbs Whiterod Zipfell Lincs & Yorks - Sivills Predgen Sweden - Jönsson Cronberg Andersson Yorks - Spence Hide Hird Durham - Dalkin Selby Renwick Somerset - Keen Hitchins
I've looked on the census's and the 1851 is marked as City of Durham, after that the census's just say Durham. Does that narrow it down ? I'm waiting for the parish record of his marriage but as it was in York Im not very hopeful unless one of his brothers or sisters were an witness. Did plumbers exist in 1800 ? cos if so perhaps his father was a plumber as afterwards there is a long line of plumbers ! Thanks very much for your help. Nicola

I just checked the St Giles entry on the Durham Bishops Transcripts at family search labs. Extraordinarily, this John is a twin as well! John James & Robt Laidler twins. Born 18 November baptized 18 November (1804) 1st children of --Laidler in the ?Train of Artillery Tinmouth and Margery late Harbottle par. of St. Giles
Hi Jen Thats helped a lot, so now I'm down to a choice of 2. The other piece of info I have is that Johns son Frederick went back to Durham to live in 1871 and lived in 65 Halgarth Street, Elvet Co Durham. (perhaps I better go back and check his neighbours) perhaps his gran lived in the same road. Thanks again Nicola
