Trying to find the family of Ann Dodds b. 1820 Sunderland, married Robert Ferens, 8 June 1835 Bishopwearmouth Sunderland. Robert and Ann according to 1861 cen lived at Long Row Fatfield. After their marriage i cant seem to find them or any children they may have had until later years as living in Fatfield which was the home place of my Ferens family. Would be nice to find my family of the Dodds side, which i dont have and the marriage certificate of robert and Ann doesnt give any other info regarding their fathers name etc..
maybe someone out there has a Dodds/Ferens connection ......
Thak you for any help

Jennifer the 1861 census is for Long Row Fatfield, the name is spelt as Ferrins. Robert Ferrins and Ann she is shown as 41 born Sunderland and Jane Ann Black or Slack aged 5 grand daughter. robert and Ann are living next door to Robert's father, another Robert Ferens. Its the Dodds side of things i cant get any way ahead with sadly....1871 census of the same place show's Robert as being a widower..no Ann.
Thank you Sam-Ann

I did find a marriage of a Margaret Jane Ferens daug of Robert Ferens of Fatfield, Labourer, 25 Apr 1886 in the parish of Fatfield. Now could this be a child of Robert and Ann?According to Margarets age on the marr cert she was 20 so making her born 1846 that date would fit according to Robert/Ann's marriage date.I dont have any children other than the Mary Jennifer has just found for me....
Thank you
Sam-Ann

Hi Sue, I dont know the parents of Ann Dodds at all, this is what i would love to try and find out because after Ann dodds i have no other Dodds family......plenty of the Ferens side.....no Dodds after Ann. I also couldnt find any children of Robert and Ann but thanks to the wonderful help here i have a child Mary now. Would be so good to find Ann's family although it is difficult..
Many thanks Sam-Ann

From Penshaw baptismal record:
Mary Jane Ferins, born 5 June 1836, baptised 3 July 1836 daughter of Robert Ferins, Miller, Penshaw Staiths and Ann Dodds.
No other children baptised up to 1839.

Hi Janis, thank you so much for your help, so Mary Jane was b 1836 and the only other possibly child i can associate with robert/Ann is this Margaret Jane b.1846, however i dont know where....ten year gap for children. I think by this time they were living at Fatfield/Harraton..
Thank you Janis for your help

Hi Janis, In the St Mary St Cuthbert parish reg there are plenty of FERENS spelt the correct way for Roberts fathers family but as you say none for Robert and Ann, its strange because i cant find the bap of this Margaret Jane b 1846 daug of Robert and Ann Ferens . Robert was a miller in 1836, he bought the Gaunless Mills in Bishop Auckland i wonder if they could have been living there? From 1836 to 1846 no children and none after that come to think of it! Got me beat...
Thank you Janis

There is a James Ferrens baptism 16 April 1826 in Chester le Street son of Robert and Ann that is the only Ferrens from 1813-1839. And quite a few years before the marriage so maybe a different Robert and Ann than yours. None 1840-1849.
