Can any one pleas help with a look up Have tried the free BMD. I am looking for the death of Margaret  Cobham between jun 1859 and DEC 1860.I have found one Margaret Cobham Sept 1860 ORMSKIRK this is her daughter. the one I am looking for is her mother she had a son in  JUNE 1859 in Ormskirk work house she may have died of child dearth pleas can some one help

Have you considered that she may have  married/remarried?

You haven't given any details of her birthyear/birthplace but there is an 1862 Ormskirk marriage on freebmd to either George Gray or Edward Heaton

What was her son's name?  Did he survive infancy?

I have looked through the full GRO index and the one you found is the only one I can see.

Have you contacted Ormskirk Register office to see if they have a record of her death?

I am looking for help to fined out any thing on my Cobham family and their time in Ormskerk Union work house. Thurston Cobham his  wife Margaret was  there in 1859 where thy Had a son Thurston .  thy had been living in North meols southport Lancashire  can any one pleas help.

I see he married again quite quickly, but odd that we can't see Mary's death registration 1859-1861  Undecided

There doesn't seem to be a death registration for Thurston b. 1859 either, and if he's not with father on 1861

Maybe both deaths are together mistranscribed somewhere....

Father:  WILLIAM COBHAM    Mother:  ANN  

In view of the 1860 marriage, we can definitely say that Margaret is dead.  However - I can't find a marriage of Thurston to a Margaret.  Presume you have a copy of the 1859 birth cert.  Does it confirm that parents were Thurston and Margaret - what was Margaret's maiden name?

Son Thurston was b June qtr 1859 and Thurston snr married in December qtr 1860 so the only death entry that fits is the one you found

I looked up the birthyears for Christopher and Jane and Jane was b 1850 - here is the 1851 census for Blackmoor Rd Mawdsley - all b Mawdsley

Thomas 7
Betty 5
William 4
Isabella 3
Jane 1
John 15 brother - basket maker

Living next door is also a William Cobham 25 basket maker married to Charlotte

NOW - 1861 census has the same William & Margaret Cobham family as on the 1851 so the 1851 entry cannot be Thurston's as we have him with his new wife in 1861

In a pm to me Doug says that Margaret was Thurstons 2nd wife and that they had 4 children.  The 1860 marriage was his third marriage.  Also - Doug already has all census info - just requires the death of Margaret to fill in the gap
