U.K. Public Libraries on the Web

Archives Hub
http://www.archiveshub.ac.uk/
Search across a wealth of archives held at nearly 200 institutions in England, Scotland and Wales and to obtain a summary of what is contained in the archives. Unfortunately it does not allow you to search the actual archives but it will give an ide of what is there and whether it is worthwhile contacting the particular archivist for a search of their records.

The Royal Military Asylum, Chelsea

Includes Alphabetical list of Children admitted to the RMA 1803-1880, Nominal roll of RMA boys admitted 1803-1880  by Regiment, Nominal roll of RMA boys admitted 1803-1880 by Regiment, and much more.

The records contain a wide variety of material covering many fields of research. Whilst the Wellcome Foundation is known by pharmaceutical and business historians, the Library's archives include items for people interested in corporate branding and trademarks (especially 'Tabloid'), local history (at sites such as Dartford, Beckenham and Berkhamsted), genealogy, international company history, and the medical profession as a whole. http://library.wellcome.ac.uk/node229.html
