Interesting enough I have just heard back from Wrexham BMD and they can only find a William Beddowes that died in 1915.
We have found an entry for a William Beddowes aged 16 months, There is no entry for a William Brett but interestingly mum was Beddowes but then became a Brett.

This is puzzling, if there is no entry in the Wrexham Register Office for William Brett, where has the  entry in the deaths index come from. There must have been mention of  the name Brett somewhere otherwise how could it be registered in that name also.

Hi all

Have now received the death cert for William Beddowes died 8th March 1915 son of Ethel Beddowes now the wife of William Brett. (stated on certificate)

That still leaves the question who was the father of the child ? ethel was married before or the child was illegitimate so now need to find childs birth.
Beddowes  William   (Mothers maiden name  Law)  Oldham  8d 1075 that was found earlier was this the only William Beddowes for 1913

This is proving quite a tricky one. I would think that with names like that it would be rather less difficult than the usual Jones and Roberts we have here in Wrexham.
If there was anything to search for in Wrexham then I am more than willing, but  I just can`t see what would help.
I guess all you can do is to make sure that William Beddowes born 1913 had a Mum named Ethel.
There should be a place of Birth which might help, possibly with Electoral Registers.
Good Luck.  :)

Hi

Have today sent for birth certificate 1913 oldham district William Beddowes to see who the parents are, hoping that I am on the right track.

Also have e-mailed Wrexham electoral registration dept to see where I can find information for 8 The Walks, Brook St Wrexham for 1915 on-line.

Hi Judy,

You will need to contact Denbighshire Record Office as they keep the Electoral Registers for that period. There weren't any taken during WW1 though so you would have to look before and after the war years. There aren't any online  :(

Have you tried the 1911 census. Unfortunately you are apparently not allowed to ask for a look up on Rootschat  ???
Using the name varient on Beddowes  with a William in the household I found these.
First names ETHEL
Last names BEDDOWES
Birth Year 1890
Birth Year +/- 10 years
Other person first names WILLIAM
BEDDOWES ETHEL 1887 aged 24 Oldham Lancashire
BEDDOWES FLORENCE ETHEL 1892 19 Ormskirk Lancashire

Searching for a William Beddowes and an Ethel in the household
I found this.
First names WILLIAM
Last names BEDDOWES
Birth Year 1890
Birth Year +/- 10 years
County Lancashire
District Oldham
Other person first names ETHEL
BEDDOWES JOHN WILLIAM  1883 aged 28 Oldham Lancashire

Oldham is not where they were born, just where they were living in 1911.

Hopefully this will tie up with the Birth of William , Oldham seems  to be a good link.  :) :) :)

had thought of John William Beddowes and Ethel Lowe as a possibility as I think that John William Beddowes died in 1913 this may tie in with the birth of baby William Beddowes and that Ethel may have remarried William Brett.

Awaiting baby William Beddowes birth certificate.

Had a look 1913 census looked at 8 the Walk but they weren't there in 1911, otherwise didn't get very far.
