Yes it looks like I will have to get that. I was talking to another relative last night who said she thought Vera had been born at a place called Calf Hay? I found a Calf Hay farm but don't know if its a village.

The farm sounds a possibility;  not heard of a Calf Hay village though.

Calfhay Farm is near Leigh but that's in Sherbourne Registration District not Dorchester - perhaps she grew up there but was born elsewhere? By the way about 18 miles NW of Leigh is a village called Pathe, it's in Somerset though.

My own ancestors lived in the Sherborne area and crossed the border between Somerset and Dorset in every generation, so I would think that Pathe, which incidentally I had never heard of seems very probable.

Pathe is very tiny and not somewhere I knew about.  I found it in my trusty 1958 Road Atlas. Multimap hasn't heard of it but if you search for Othery then go to the Ordnance Survey version, Pathe is just to the south.

I've just found Calfhay farm on the ordnance survey map - it's between Leigh (Sherbourne District) and Batcombe (Dorchester District) so could well come under Dorchester.

See my post on Somerset opc thread re difficulties.

I haven't done anything on my Somerset lot  for ages so didn't realise there was a problem with the OPC site. I guess you already know that FreeReg has a lot of Somerset records?
