Searching for James Love, born April 1839-1840 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Possible descendant from surname 'LUIFF'. Married to Ho'opii/Ho'apii in Hawaii. Children: Annie 1870-1954, James R 1873-? both born in Hawaii. Unable to find much info since documents from Scotland not computerized.   Thank you!

There is an A/try family tree for James Love and wife Ho'apii which gives the following children:

Annie Kaniniu Love b. 1870
James Robert Love b. 1871
William Kaliko Love b. 1874

James Love's parents are given as Robert Love and Margaret Watt. No source info given for this so hard to guess at where this info has come from and how accurate it may be 

There are a number of James Loves born c. 1839 around the Lanarkshire area and surrounding counties. Will be hard to be more difinite without any more info on James. Was there nothing on his marriage or death cert that could with his personal details?

Added: On the A/tree tree, James' name is given as James Robert Love b. 1839 in Glasgow, died 12 Dec. 1913 in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii Territory.

Hadn't realised that Hawii would be included on the US censuses....which of course it is as it is part of the US 

From the 1900 census, James Love shows as boarding with the ROWE family. He shows as already widowed and a baker by occupation.

He gives his birth month and year as April 1840. His migration year as 1851 (49 yrs living in the Hawaii). The 1910 entry for him shows his migration to Hawaii as 1859.

James Love shows as a baker on his 1900 entry. Not sure there would be many James Loves working as a baker at that time in Hawaii.

Would death certs for this period include any details to let you work back on the LOVE and WATT lines back in Scotland? From the 1841 census entry that Trish posted, you have three two potential relatives (siblings?) for Robert. They all show as born outside of the county of Lanarkshire.

Going back to that A/try tree, Robert Love's parents are given as Francis Love and Agnes Cockburn...again not clear on source. Children for this couple look to have been born in Ayrshire. A Robert Love was born to them in 1812 in Stevenston, Ayrshire. However, although the Margaret Watt and Robert Love details on the tree seem to have some substance, not sure about Francis and Agnes (Cockburn) for Robert's parents  Other sources for this Robert show for example http://genealogy.clanmoffat.org/familygroup.php?familyID=F52210&tree=ClanMoffat
