Hello :),
Please could a nice person lookup John & Martha Morgan for me. They were both born in the early 1820's around Shaftesbury or Motcombe.
On the 1881 they were at Enmore Green.
I am interested in their children as some had left home by the next census.
Many thanks,
Inchworm ;)

Hi
Did any of them die in Shaftesbury area?
Alison
-
Yes, a lot of the Morgans lived in Shaftesbury.
Edwin Charles Morgan died 1907 Shaftesbury. He married Mary Petty of Shaftesbury. The Petty family came from the Bimport area of Shaftesbury.

Inchworm :)

I work in shaftesbury & am quite happy to have a look to see if any of them are buried there.
Names & dates would be a help
Alison
-
Hello Alison,
Thank you for your kind offer. The Petty family seemed to live in the Holy Trinity Parish in Shaftesbury.
I would be very keen to find the death of Hannah Petty. She had a child (no father mentioned) in 1883 and rumour has it that she died after. She is not on the 1891 Census as Hannah Petty. She was also known as Annie or Anna.
Also the death of Albert John Petty. He died c.1922 but I don't know when his wife Sarah Ann died.
In fact any Petty or Woolridge names would be a great find.
Thanks again,
Inchworm ;D

Bimport is an area within Shaftesbury & alongside is Holy Trinity church(no
longer used as a church - sadly)I can email you a picture of it if you'd like. I will
take a look in the church yard for any graves, if not will try the cemetery.
Not sure if you're old enough to remember the Hovis advert from the 1970's?
the one with the young boy pushing a bike up a steep hill well that Gold Hill -
just a stones throw from Bimport
Alison
-
Thanks, I do have a pic of Holy Trinity. What a shame it isn't used nowdays. Oh yes, I remember the Hovis ads. In fact one of my Woolridge family (I think it was Lot ) lived in Gold Hill for a while. A lovely place.
Thank you again,
Inchworm :D

Hi Cheryle,
Thank you so much for finding "old John". He must have had a tough life to have carried on working so long. I wonder when he died and what happened to his son George?
I now have him on every census - which is good news.
Thanks again,
Inchworm :) :) :)

That would be great. Not sure if they had headstones as they were not well off people. Would appreciate pics. if you do find any.
Best regards,

cemetery tomorrow if dry

Hi Alison,
Thank you very much for looking. I find it quite relaxing looking around graveyards on a nice sunny day. Can't think why your work mates found it so amusing. 8)

Great fun I love it!
