I am trying to establish details of the family of Johnson. His parents were named John and Ann,I believe they were both born in Brunedge between 1800 and 1810.
Johnson was christened 13/4/1837 at Springhead Providence Independent Church.
I found him next in the 1881 cencus by which time he was head of his own household with a wife and 3 children. He married Edna Shaw in Saddleworth registry Office in 1858.
I would like to find any information to fill the gaps and particularly any details of his parents and siblings

Hi Oly,
No problems with your sence of humour. Thanks ever so for the research. It answered one of my long standing questions. My great great grandfather Hugh was Johnson's younger brother and Edna his wife was the sister of Hugh's wife Hannah.I have photos that were identified to me as Hugh and Hannah but I always knew in my heart they were different couples. My new problem is which picture is which couple...
thanks again
Frankie

Hi
Are you still looking for information on Johnson Winterbottom.
Stephen Shaw father of Edna Winterbottom (nee Shaw) was my Great Great Great grand father (I think thats enough)
The following is details of the gravestone inscription buried at the Providence Chapel Springhead, Unfortunately the church has been demolished and most of the gravestones removed
Sacred To
The memory of MATILDA Daughter of
JOHNSON and EDNA WINTERBOTTOM
Also EDNA WINTERBOTTOM who died
Feb 6th 1899 aged 67 years
Life’s race well run
Life’s work well done
Then comes rest
Also the afore said JOHNSON WINTERBOTTOM
Who died June 26th 1901 Aged 64 Years
Did not know that Hannah Shaw had also married a winterbottom I have been looking at Mary Emma Shaw another sister who married Robert Wilde.
